Currently our Members are not allowed to treat Patients face-to-face as per Government Guidelines, but you can take telephone consultations regarding care.

We are hoping that we will be able to resume treatments soon and we are doing our best to inform Members of any changes.

We will release further statements as the pandemic situation changes, however, in preparation for the re-opening of your clinics we have given the following guidelines:

Suggested Protocols for Return to Practice:

After being closed for a protracted length of time, clinic should undergo a deep clean and the following would be advisable:

• Liquid soap and running water or, if no water available, hand sanitiser (minimum 70% alcohol) should be used by patient and therapist prior to and after treatment, therapists should use the Ayliffe technique (see below).

• Surfaces, treatment couches and door handles should be sanitised between patients

• Couches and chairs should be covered with fresh couch roll.

• No cloth or towels (use paper towels) to be used.

• Time of arrival and time of leaving to be noted on patient records.

• Maintain social distancing where possible.

• Therapist and patient should wear facemask and therapist should wear a protective visor, apron and gloves.

• Use contactless card payment where possible.

Ayliffe Technique:

All steps have a minimum of 5 repetitions.

Apply hand sanitiser and rub palms together.

Rub the palm of one hand onto the back of the other, then switch.

Palm to palm, but interlace fingers.

Back of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked.

Rotational rubbing of right thumb clasped in left palm and vice versa.

Rotational rubbing, backwards and forwards with clasped fingers of right hand in left palm and vice versa.
