BAMWA is an organisation and official training establisment of medical practitioners who use acupuncture in hospital or general practice.


British Academy of Western Medical Acupuncture, the first training establishment to teach Medical Acupuncture in the UK. We were established over 37 year ago and have trained many medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapist and numerous others who have held qualifications suitable for training in this category.

The Course

The course is a collaborative partnership between Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and the British Academy of Western Medical Acupuncture (BAWMA). This professional certificate in western acupuncture aims to equip professionals with the best standards of education to support a successful and responsible career in medical acupuncture.
